I wrote this in honor of a stud colt I nicknamed Ace of Diamonds, he had a perfect diamond on his muzzle. He came to me as a 2 year old to be trained to ride.......I had not ridden in 20+ years, it was an adventure of a passion that never died....

Ace of Diamonds

Ace, a beautiful sorrel stallion
A soft eye, chiseled features,
Instilled with a heart of a champion
A declaration of God's powerful creatures.

Ace, how I loved you and respected you,
I had to prove you could trust me
Hours of grooming and walking in the morning dew
In turn you submitted to a partnership so free.

Ace, you restored the lost confidence in myself
After laying down my passion for 20 years
Training, riding and teaching, all on a dusty shelf
We engaged as in a dance, you relieved my fears.

Ace, this is a tribute to you,
for your end was all in vain.
You were forgotten, neglected, so cruelly true
How you suffered through neglect and died in pain.

Ace, how bitter of an end, you were priceless.
I pray that justice be served,
You didn't deserve your fate at the hand of mercilessness
May the one responsible get what they deserve.

Ace, the age long struggle of beauty and death
Will one day be judged and restored
The broken world and fallen ways of this flesh
Is redeemed by the cost of God's son, Jesus our Lord.
